ABOUT ME
I have kept rabbits all my life, ever since i can remember really, the first 2 being albinos when i was about 4 or 5, then i had a black and white dutch, then i got a flemish giant when i was about 9, i remember him very well because i had him for about 18 months before he got out of his cage and ran off into the cow field that was behind my mums house. For about a year he used to come back into the garden with his family but i could never catch him.
I got back into rabbits when i settled down and got married. We started out with a chinchilla dwarf lop which we got in 1993, we bred her twice to my neighbours rabbit before we had to have her put down due to a re-occuring tooth absess at about 3 years old.
We have have numerous pet rabbits since then, not really knowing what we were breeding to what, until 2007 when i started liking different colours, i have always liked the lops so we thought we would do this properly and went into just lop eared rabbits breeding dwarf lop to dwarf lop, french lop to french lop.
In 2008 we started on the mini lops and decided that we liked the chocolates, so we thought we would try to learn about the genetics of the colours and with the help from a woman who knows a lot about ALL of the colours and has an excellent set up, Phylis Chell, we would also like to thank Lisa Kelsall of maltby minis for her help too.
I must add to this a big thank you to someone that has helped me out quite a lot with colours and genetics, and that is Phillip from Castle bunnies in Wales. I hate trying to read it as it never seems to sink in (i am still learning, so anymore help is welcome)
